Fair Trade Natural Purse: About the Guff

After the Green Festival we’ve been thinking a lot about Fair Trade (we were in the Fair Trade section after all) and we want to do our part to support the artisans of the world that are working hard under fair conditions to change their lives and moreover their communities. Today’s Daily Guff, the Fair Trade Natural Purse, does just that since it comes to us from Mar y Sol.

The company works with artisans in Kenya and Madagascar to blend traditional weaving techniques with contemporary notions into colorful and unique products from renewable materials. We happen to also thing that their products are incredibly hip and perfectly eco-stylish.

What you support with your purchase:

- Made in a producer-owned cooperative

- Uses traditional materials and techniques

- Enables parents to stay home with their kiddos

- Each product is crafted in a community setting

- Green energy fulfills 50% of energy needs

- Over 50% of the materials are biodegradable with 100% being from sustainably harvested materials

- No animals or their habitats were harmed in the creation of these products
