Recycled and Bamboo Suits for Men

Bamboo suits aren’t the only Eco-friendly suits around

I found a company that makes recycled business suits! It’s called Bagir and it’s located in the U.K. They make three suits that are good for the world:

  1. EcoGir Recycled: These suits are made from 100% recycled PET bottles. These suits are great because they assist in the fight to keep out landfills free of old PET bottles.
  2. EcoGir Washable: These suits are so cool that you can throw them in your own washing machine. Machine washing suits assists in your fight to reduce the amount of water you use, and the amount of CO2 that you emit.
  3. EcoGir Organic: These suit jackets are made from 100% organic cotton. The cotton was grown without harmful chemicals or pesticides.

I’ve been thinking that I need to buy some new suits lately. I’m going to start looking for them at some local stores here in Detroit. The bagir website says that their suits can be bought at JCPenny, Casual Male Big and Tall, Brooks Brothers, The Limited, and Express. I guess I’ll start looking at these stores.

I think I need one.

Investing in Organic Tshirts

Nvohk Has a New Take on the Organic Cotton T-shirt Business

I found this company called Nvohk awhile ago but recently came across it again. It’s kinda weird, kinda cool, and kinda Guffly. What is it? Nvohk is an eco-clothing company that is managed by the people who buy and wear its products. Here’s the deal:
  • You activate your membership for $50 per year
  • You and the other 39,999 members will develop and manage Nvohk – together you’ll make decisions on the logo, shirt designs, product designs, and advertising
  • When the company makes money, the 40,000 members split 35% of net profits via reward points
  • You can use these reward points to buy Nvohk products at a 1 to 1 dollar to point ratio
  • You’ll get other benefits like the opportunity to win money for logo and product designs, a member t-shirt and sticker, and 25% discount on all products
  • Another 10% of Nvohk’s net profits will go directly to environmental charities
I think Nvohk is a really interesting concept with huge potential. Your $50 could go pretty far (that is, as long as they have decent net profits). But, I’m holding off on my membership until I hear back about the materials used that make their products eco-friendly. I’ll post an update when I hear back…

Eco-Friendly Clothing 101

New eco-friendly clothing made from bamboo, hemp, and even recycled plastic bottles.

I’ve been hearing a lot about Eco-friendly clothing lately. However, the more that I hear about organic clothing; the more questions I have about . So I did some research and found a great article that answered the majority of my questions. Read “Wear Water Bottles (and look good, too)” by Marisa Belger, a contributor for the MSNBC.com blog.
