In the famous words sung by Sam Cooke, change is certainly gonna come and it’s time for a change here at Guffly. Starting today, Guffly will now feature a Daily Guff three days a week instead of five. Don’t cry, it’s all good. We’re streamlining during our not-as-busy-season in efforts to make this thing last the long haul (did you know Guffly is only 6 months old? To us it seems like an eternity…or are we not supposed to acknowledge that…opps?!). You’ll still be able to shop the cool products in our Top Guffs as well as see the latest Guffly finds on our Daily Guff page every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
We’re continuing to search out the best independent suppliers with creative, stylish, and modern eco-friendly or fair-trade goods. You can still also take advantage of our month of completely FREE SHIPPING. That’s love right there (especially from a small company).
Thanks for your support. Peace!
The team @ Guffly

From the Windy City to the Motor City comes the Recycled Cork Cuff Bracelet designed by the lovely ladies at Studio 1am. If you have not heard of them, you have to check them out! Donna Piacenza and Jody Work make up the design team for the studio and take an unconventional approach to their projects that we think makes you think twice about what you are looking at.
In their words, “Studio 1a.m. challenges and often subverts tradition through the design of everyday objects, environments, and graphic concepts. Their process enables the continuous flow and evolution of ideas. This experimental, cross-disciplinary approach results in meaningful and unforeseen outcomes.”
We dig that they are using sustainable cork as a material for their beautifully designed cuff. Each cuff is cut from a single block of cork that you can use for storage and display. Each piece is individually numbered and designed to fit both men and women. Learn more on the Daily Guff: http://guffly.com

Since it is the holiday season, the Daily Guff is getting in spirit with the Scrabble Tile Holiday Ornaments. These awesome festive pieces come to us from Lark Studio! Dawn founded Lark Studio in 2003 as an outlet for her handmade unique items. While her varied creations may not seem to share a common thread, all of her work is unified with an eco-consciousness and remarkable attention to detail that her customers have come to expect.
We love her playful approach to design but what we really love more is that she diligently collects discarded materials to make these rad products. I mean seriously…how funny is the WTF ornament? These aren’t just for trees, imagine them as a fun desk accessory or unique way to adorn a gift! Check them out on the Daily Guff: http://guffly.com

These rockin – pun kinda intended – Recycled Folding Speakers come from OrigAudio. They are busy producing Mother Nature Approved speakers that are made from recycled materials and are completely self powered! Hello, who doesn’t need a pair of these in their life.
Think about it – on a bike ride, at the beach, just chilling at home, while working…whatever the occasion, having some easy to travel with speakers to add a soundtrack to your life is a beautiful thing.
Another beautiful thing about OrigAudio is that they support Music National Service, which is a nonprofit enterprise that supports and expands the use of music to address important civic and social needs. Research shows music to be an effective intervention in: 1) under-resourced public schools and low-income communities to develop more successful students and youth; 2) health care and therapeutic settings for patient recovery and improved functioning; 3) the public domain for increased civic engagement, diplomacy and peace.
That’s certainly something we can get behind! Get your pair (or get 2 and get your second for HALF OFF) on the Daily Guff: http://guffly.com/

Hello friends, lovers, and accomplices:
I am excited to write today because I have been inspired by our trip to the San Francisco Green Festival along with the random editorial/article writing opportunities I have been presented with lately. I was already in the mood to write more, and now seeing your faces and talking to y’all in person has got me really hyped up. I love that so many of you totally understand our perspective and are digging the great Guffly stuff we scout out. I also really enjoyed meeting new friends with great potential Guffs. Power to the producers, I support your endeavors! Your awesome ideas are why we got started in the first place.
So, what’s up in our world? We’re getting prepared for a few more shows, where we’ll set up a similar experience to that we had at Green Fest – lots of Guffs to touch and feel and our happy Guffly family to answer your questions and help you score the perfect gifts. More details to come rearding dates and locations so that you can come visit us if you are near they places we’ll play.
We’re also spending some serious time meeting new supplier friends and figuring out more ways to help one another. We’ll be out scouting new Gufflings (this might be my favorite use for our word) this weekend at the Detroit Urban Craft Fair. Intrigued? I knew you would be. Here’s the info from DUCF’s website: “The Detroit Urban Craft Fair is an annual event showcasing the work of 50+ independent artists and alternative crafters in one of the Midwest’s most industrial cities. As Michigan’s largest and most visible indie craft fair, DUCF serves as an entry point for the state’s alternative craft scene. The 2009 DUCF is November 21 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at The Majestic Theatre, located at 4120-4140 Woodward Avenue in downtown Detroit.” I know, right up our alley! I’m crossing my fingers for eco friendly awesomeness, and I’m feeling lucky.
If you know of good people with cool product creations (ones with a heart of course – be it eco or fair) please send them our way. Likewise, tell us if there is something you want to see on Guffly. Have you been searching for a certain product and would prefer it to be eco friendly? Do you dream up ways to improve products by giving them a makeover of the green variety? Do you have a problem (like a need for serious winter boots because you refuse to have cold, wet feet again this winter…just as an example) and want to find the most functional, stylish, eco friendly way to solve it? Tell us and we will dig.
That’s all for now friends, but we’ll be posting a lot more updates about our lovechild in a series we’ll call… “Guffly in Real Life” (just thought of that…not bad for on the fly ey?) We’ll keep you better informed about our little world here in the heart of Detroit.
Lots of Guffly Love,
Chanell

The Guffly Team is thrilled to offer another broken plate pendant from The Broken Plate Pendant Company in Baltimore. Juliet is the talented artist that creates this awesome eco jewelry.
Juliet’s first new project was a simple, mosaic mailbox that repurposed all of the plates she had collected from thrift shops over the years. When the mailbox was complete, Ames was left with a pile of broken plate shards that were begging for a new life. She wrapped one in solder and made a pendant out of it. We say this was a brilliant move and now we can all rock a beautiful piece of vintage dishes!
We think her job must be pretty fun to break plates and create great pieces of jewelry, that’s part of why we wanted to offer another design from her collection. These Floral Broken Plate Pendants are fantastic gifts because it really is a one of a kind necklace – learn more and buy on the Daily Guff: http://guffly.com/

From Worthless to Priceless is Koru Street’s tagline and they’re the great supplier that brings us the Recycled Plastic Bag Wallet to feature on the Daily Guff! Their mission is, “To prove that eco-friendly can be fun, colorful and even silly sometimes. And can go beyond the environmental benefits to improve the lives of others all around the world.” Right on!
This particular fabulous wallet comes from Koru Street’s vendor CONSERVE, a creative non-profit organization that turns what was once an environmental hazard into a clean, fashionable material to create each wallet. In their efforts to help save the environment they also provide a fair-trade approved income for the urban poor of India. How about that – awesome wallet, awesome cause!
Get a wallet that is going to get you lots of attention and people won’t believe it’s made from recycled materials! Six colors to choose from on the Daily Guff: http://guffly.com/

The Daily Guff is representing Michigan this weekend! Amanda of Vintage In Retrospect from Auburn Hills creates these awesome Recycled License Plate Belt Buckles out of vintage license plates. She scours garage sales, thrift stores, vintage racks, the side of the road, and even dumpsters to find materials to create her eco friendly products.
We love that Amanda is taking found products and giving them new life that is totally eco-stylish. She even says she, “will pick up a rejected item from the ground, a friend will ask me to make something, or I’ll suddenly be inspired… and it will most likely end up in my shop.” Good lookin’ out J
Rock some Motor City style with these awesome Recycled License Plate Belt Buckles. Get yours on the Daily Guff: http://guffly.com

The fun earrings you see on the Daily Guff today come to us from Kathy who is a full time artist in Pennsylvania. After graduating from college with a painting major and art history minor, Kathy knew she had to start her own full-time art business – we’re glad she did! By using the techniques she learned in her jewelry metal classes and her mad artistic skills she uses everyday materials to create masterpieces.
Not only does she recycle the products from her life but she gets donations from family and friends of all kinds of materials for her to create her eco-stylish products. She even reuses packing material and food boxes for her product packaging – our sample came in a handmade box that was once for waffles!
Thank you Kathy for creating not only funky but eco friendly products! We appreciate your approach to recycling, reuse and minimizing waste. Get your one of a kind pair of earrings on the Daily Guff: http://guffly.com/
