The Vintage Glass Earrings on the Daily Guff come from avid glass and bottle collector, Laura Bergman – founder of Bottled Up Designs. Laura saw an opportunity when collectors took the whole bottles but left the broken glass behind for the environment and wildlife to deal with. We commend her for identifying this problem and truly making the most of it!
She has lived in Pennsylvania Amish Country her entire life and has spent many hours poking through old glass and bottle dumps in the area, which are now in wooded natural habitats. In her words, “To me, though broken, this glass still has beauty and history, so I decided to pick up the pieces and turn them into something beautiful again, in my remarkable line of recycled glass jewelry.”
She goes the extra mile in working towards being environmentally friendly by not using older or flux, as this process produces chemicals that are extremely harmful to the environment. We appreciate that extra effort!
As an added bonus, each of her pieces comes with “The Story of the Glass,” which details what the jewelry piece was originally made from and approximate age. This little detail really makes it a special, one-of-a-kind gift.

From the Windy City to the Motor City comes the Recycled Cork Cuff Bracelet designed by the lovely ladies at Studio 1am. If you have not heard of them, you have to check them out! Donna Piacenza and Jody Work make up the design team for the studio and take an unconventional approach to their projects that we think makes you think twice about what you are looking at.
In their words, “Studio 1a.m. challenges and often subverts tradition through the design of everyday objects, environments, and graphic concepts. Their process enables the continuous flow and evolution of ideas. This experimental, cross-disciplinary approach results in meaningful and unforeseen outcomes.”
We dig that they are using sustainable cork as a material for their beautifully designed cuff. Each cuff is cut from a single block of cork that you can use for storage and display. Each piece is individually numbered and designed to fit both men and women. Learn more on the Daily Guff: http://guffly.com

We are geeked to have the Recycled Circuit Board Earrings on the Daily Guff today! They come to us from Jacob of Upcycled Jewelry. We totally dig the designs he is creating and are happy to support what he does.
Jacob owns and operates a business that manages bank owned or foreclosed properties. This involves rekeying houses, fixing things and total clean outs. In a given month, he can accumulate over 5,000 pounds of garbage!!! Every ounce of metal I separate to be recycled. All electronics, like TV’s, computers, faxes, etc., are taken apart and recycled if not in useable shape. We SO appreciate that he is trying his best to lessen the impact on our world and our community.
Hats off to you Jacob! We love these unique, lightweight eco-stylish earrings with a twist! Get a pair on the Daily Guff: http://guffly.com/

She says that she, “Hope[s] that my work will be loved and worn by people who imagine the adventures all these scraps of fabric, baubles and old, brittle pages had before they reached their hands–and that they might take them on some of their own.

The fun earrings you see on the Daily Guff today come to us from Kathy who is a full time artist in Pennsylvania. After graduating from college with a painting major and art history minor, Kathy knew she had to start her own full-time art business – we’re glad she did! By using the techniques she learned in her jewelry metal classes and her mad artistic skills she uses everyday materials to create masterpieces.
Not only does she recycle the products from her life but she gets donations from family and friends of all kinds of materials for her to create her eco-stylish products. She even reuses packing material and food boxes for her product packaging – our sample came in a handmade box that was once for waffles!
Thank you Kathy for creating not only funky but eco friendly products! We appreciate your approach to recycling, reuse and minimizing waste. Get your one of a kind pair of earrings on the Daily Guff: http://guffly.com/
